SAFE RIDER

Some club members decided to do the "SAFE RIDER" with the Norfolk and Suffolk Police Riders.

Up early on a Sunday morning and the sun was shinning and look to be a good dry day. We arrived at Wymondham police HQ for a 09:00 start and met up with the police officers (all volunteers) that we were assigned to. We were two riders to one officer which was good usually there is three to one. I was a bit nervious as was my wife and sure some of the others were as well if they admit it or not.

Went out to police bike had a short briefing with the officer and off we went. Some headed off towards Hunstantion others to Sizewell and we went off to Yarmouth. About 100 miles covered and at the start the police bike is in the front on demo ride then a stop for questions etc and then one of you take the lead and he will observe and so on. During the ride I was thinking why was I nervous.. this was fun and getting a rider who does this day in and day out giving me good constructive advise about my riding and now up to me to improve.

Back at HQ we all had a quick debrief and finish.. Every one that attended came back with a big smile or grin on their faces and said what a great day it was and how friendly and helpful the police officers were.

Good day and highly recommended. (By Derek)
